Olive Frame is a Graduate Gemologist (GIA) and Graduate Jeweller (CJA-GJ).

She has extensive international experience having lived and taught gemstone classes domestically and overseas for over 20 years.

Over the years there have been many changes in the jewellery industry. Recently discovered gemstone sources, stunning new stone varieties, state-of-the-art stone treatments and enhancements, as well as some deceptively good man-made stones, just to mention a few. More imitations and sophisticated synthetics are in the market, causing a lot of head shaking for jewellers and consumers.

 Even though gem enhancement is considered standard and acceptable, there are treatments that do not get industry approval. It is essential that you are aware of the difference.

 Even the pearl and diamond markets have been subjected to many changes over the last decade including new grading methods, nontraditional source locations and varieties that gemologists never thought possible.

 The gem courses offered allow:

•  An in-depth study of over 60 gem varieties with the opportunity to examine sample stones, using eye loupes.
•  An advanced practical gem identification course, with instruction in the use of gemological equipment.
•  Courses concentrating on pearls and/or diamonds are also available.
