About The CJA |
![]() |
![]() CJA is the voice of the Canadian jewellery industry, providing leadership in ethics, education and communication. We promote consumer trust and assist our members to follow best business practices. It is our vision to make the CJA the brand that consumers demand. We want the public to recognize the CJA logo in jewellery stores and associate it with a Code of Ethics, integrity and honesty. CJA was established in 1918 to influence the Canadian government to remove the 10% Excise Tax on luxury goods, which was imposed at that time on jewellery and related products. By the time the tax was abolished in 2006, CJA had grown and evolved into a broad-based, full service trade association serving all sectors of the Canadian jewellery industry. With the tax issue behind us, CJA has turned its focus toward establishing a strategic plan that includes the implementation and development of five fundamental pillars:
With Canada emerging as a major world producer of diamonds, its role in the international jewellery industry is becoming ever more significant. The CJA is well equipped to meet the challenges that will accompany this, and is proud to continue to be the umbrella organization for the Canadian industry and to act as its mouthpiece. I trust that your visit to our website will be useful and rewarding. We appreciate your interest in the CJA and its activities and assure you that the Board of Directors and the staff are eager to assist. Sincerely, Morris Robinson Chairman |
